It took place at the monthly MOB meeting at "The Boss" cigar shop, a cigar and libation pairing from two companies with only one letter separating them: ROXO and ROXOR. It was a natural theme since these two companies with nearly identical names, both produce products that go well together: port and cigars.
Aaron Culp and Jeffrey Steele from Roxo Cellars were on hand to pour their Paso Robles, Roxo port-style wines, which were paired with a selection of Roxor cigars, a product of the Perseo Cigar Company.
Roxo Cellars, founded in 2005, is one of the only California wineries that exclusively produce port-style wines. The company has 5 different port blends, some of which use traditional port varietals, while others are made with grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Negrette, and Cabernet Franc.

The evening started with an announcement by Francisco Curiel and Doc Stogie Fresh (photo above), who told those in attendance about the coming Cig Con West event.
Cig Con West 2009 will be a premier cigar conference/festival that will take place in Paso Robles, California on September 18 and 19, 2009. Conference signups were taken at the event.

Long Ash Contest Winner: Juan

Attendees sampled Roxor cigars including Maduro, Connecticut, and Cameroon blends. There was even a long ash contest and plenty of raffle prizes.
During the evening, both the Roxo Ports and the Roxor cigars were sold at discount prices for all in attendance. There's nothing better than "try before you buy." And, coming away with a great deal on a fine port and a cigar makes it even more special.
The Roxo/Roxor evening was held in a giant tent, rented for the evening, which came complete with lighting and a propane heating system. Everyone was warm and cozy and the atmosphere was charged with good friends and good fun. It was truly an evening to remember.
