Kentucky Gentlemen Cigars, founded in 2004 by Allen Mobley and his wife Carol, is headquartered on the former Ripplewood thoroughbred farm in Lawrenceburg, KY. Mobley believes that Kentucky is a logical geographical location to manufacture premium cigars: they have the supply, they have the knowledge of tobacco and they have sufficient skilled workers.
Though Kentucky Gentlemen Cigars now imports most of its leaf from the Dominican Republic, Mobley has been experimenting with growing Cuban seed tobacco and Connecticut broadleaf in Anderson County, Kentucky.
The cigar I am featuring today is called the Kentucky Twist. It is a 6.5 x 54 Torpedo that has Dominican and Nicaraguan filler, a Dominican binder, and has two wrappers; one a Connecticut Shade and the other a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro. These wrappers are twisted around the cigar into the appearance of a barber pole. These cigars also feature Western Kentucky fire-cured dark tobacco on the tips, which give the cigars a unique flavor.

This is another product from the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, which, by the way, is not too far from where our featured cigar is made over in Lawrenceburg.
