DESCRIPTION: The concept behind the cigars was to re-create a specific taste profile from years past. Illusione president, Dion Giolitto has tried to bring back the glory of the tobacco grown before the Sandanistas took over Nicaragua in 1979.
All Illusione cigars are made in the Raices Cubanas factory in Nicaragua from first generation Corojo 99 and Criollo 98 tobaccos. The cigars are wrapped with grade one Café Colorado wrappers and finished with a traditional triple cap. Today's featured cigar is the 4/2g, which is a 7.5 inch by 49 RG Churchill.
FEATURED LIBATION: Zaya 12 Year Old Rum
The Zaya 12 Year Old Estate Rum is a blend of between 3-5 rums that have been aged for a minimum of 12 years in small oak barrels. The resulting rum is distributed in 750 ml bottles at 80 proof or 40% ABV. This dark brown rum is distilled from fermented molasses. The 5 times distilled rum is aged in medium toasted white oak barrels, which were previously used for either bourbon or whisky.

DOC'S CIGAR POSTSCRIPT: LG Diez Vintage 2008
I featured the LG Diez Vintage 2008 back in Episode 158 on Sunday, March 1, 2009. I purchased these cigars in the beginning of 2009 so they've been gathering dust in my humidor for another year and I pulled out a stick for re-sampling this past week.
