The Bauza pyramid has a nice looking natural wrapper that is smooth and slightly oily, with an aroma of barnyard and wet hay (a good thing, trust me). The wrapper was firm yet supple and the tobacco seemed in good shape.

This cigar has a fairly large foot and lighting takes a bit of patience. I slowly rolled the cigar while toasting the foot and was rewarded with an even burn.

The first few puffs were smooth and a bit spicy. The draw was nearly perfect and the stogie threw a tight consistent ash for nearly two inches until I gently tapped it free. The ember beneath the ash was conical, indicating that the wrappers were burning faster than the fillers. Nevertheless, the burn was consistent and the edge was razor sharp.

Age has definitely improved this cigar. The burn is much improved over last time and the initial flavors are not bitter as before. The strength of the flavors and body have diminished somewhat yielding a much smoother cigar over the first half. The body is light to medium and the flavors are a pleasant cedar and roasted nuts.

The second half gave way to a nutty, spicy tang and even a bit of sweetness, more common to maduro-wrapped smokes.

Though smooth and pleasant, the cigar lacked complexity and depth, something that I fear will not be gained with further aging. However, this is a much improved smoke and was enjoyable to the nub.
