Cabaiguan by Tatuaje
Tasting Notes
Cabaiguán cigars are rolled in classic Cuban tradition by Master Rollers in Little Havana Miami, FL U.S.A. Headed by Maestro Tobaquero Jose Pepin Garcia. They are blended to be a medium-bodied yet flavorful smoke.

I pulled out a stick and gave it my usual prelight inspection. The golden brown wrapper leaf glistened with oils in the natural sunlight here on the Central Coast of California. The Connecticut shade wrapper is grown in Ecuador and has a delicate yet fragrant aroma of alfalfa and roasted nuts. The wrapper is relatively free of noticeable veins, however, the body of the cigar is firm to the touch indicating that it is plenty full of tobacco.

After clipping and lighting this Cabaiguán torpedo, I am greeted with notes of spice, cloves, and sweet, wet hay. It is slightly dry on the palate yet tingly and spicy on the tongue. The body is initially light-medium and the flavor is solidly medium in intensity.

The draw was a bit stiff, confirming my suspicions that the cigar’s firm feel was due to overfilling. I had to puff a little more often than usual to get the same volume of smoke.

The ash was firm and though the burn line was uneven to begin with, it straightened out mostly by the 1/3 mark.

The second half of the smoke brought the sweetness of roasted nuts.

This cigar is spicy and flavorful and is a great mid-day smoke and would be a wonderful complement to summer beers or Hefweizen.

This cigar is solidly medium in body and spicy to the nub. If you are after a hardier smoke, I would recommend the Nicaraguan-made Cabaiguan Guapo.

Storage Conditions
After over a year, I am finally getting around to posting the second review in a series of reviews on this stick. They have been resting comfortably in my Aristocrat small cabinet humidor, which is set at 68%RH and with temperatures varying between 68-72 degrees F.

These cigars, which are manufactured in the El Rey de los Habanos factory in Miami, are shipped in a cabinet style box without cellophane. They have been kept them in their original box inside my cabinet.
