Tasting Notes
This particular brand is one of my favorites. It is the second tasting in this series of the Camacho Corojo. The box showed a packing date of March 2005 and I assume that it was from the crop of 2003. They are made with “Authentic Corojo”, which is directly descended from seeds that the Eiora Family obtained from Cuba over 40 years ago.

The wrapper is a dark, oily chocolate brown and presents an “Earthy” aroma. It has one medium-sized vein running own one side, but otherwise looks flawless.

I gently cut the cap, being careful not to over-cut, and toast the foot with my Zippo lighter. Dense clouds of smoke fill the air as this stogie comes to life. Full-bodied flavors of wood and earth entice your senses as the oils are extruded from the Corojo in this blend.

From the beginning of this experience, a slow burning side was evident, and a “Cap” had started to develop. This cap has been noted by others smoking this particular blend and seems to be a combustion problem within the Corojo leaf itself. It is a minor inconvenience to endure if you really enjoy the flavor of Corojo. I simply did some “Catch-up” with my lighter, but the problem returned for the duration of the smoke.

I did not experience any spiciness or bitterness in this cigar on this occasion. This could be an inconsistency on the cigars blend, my smoking, or just a normal phase of aging. I still believe that it is a great cigar to have in your humidor and well on it’s way to being one of the “Classics”.
