El Rey del Mundo
Tasting Notes
The El Rey del Mundo flor de Llaneza is named in honor of the famed Villazon cigarmaker Frank Llaneza. The Ecuadorian wrapper leaf is nothing if not silky. The delicate, albeit somewhat mottled wrapper leaf is square pressed and supple beneath my touch. The nose of the wrapper is feint and hints of fresh nuts, while the Honduran filler tobacco sports an eau de barnyard and earthy note.

After an uneventful light, I draw in flavors of cedar and chestnuts with a touch of spice to the finish. The draw is smooth and the ash, though flowered broadly, hangs on until I tap off at an inch. The burn of this cigar is dead even and the hearty tobacco aftertaste lends a full flavored contrast to the medium body and strength. Though full in flavor, this smoke is decidedly easy on the palate. There is a wonderful tangy bite on the finish that is full of “sugar and spice and everything nice.”

This is a well-constructed, good tasting cigar that is a must try for those looking for a moderately priced quality smoke. Enjoy this with a hearty libation and you are in for a wonderful evening.
