The Padrón 6000 maduro is a Nicaraguan puro that uses tobacco aged for a minimum of 2 years. It’s stealth-like in appearance, with a sharply pointed head and a dark and velvety wrapper leaf. The veins show white against the dark Habano wrapper providing a distinctive contrast. The aroma of the wrapper is a bit muted than in past reviews, obviously much of the oleoresins on the surface of the cigar have evaporated.

After clipping with my Palió cutter, I set this little beast to light with my S.T. Dupont torch lighter. I am immediately greeted with a powerful spiciness, which then mellows into an earthiness that includes tobacco, coffee and cocoa flavors.

I have noted before that Padrón maduro sticks, tend to exhibit the “terrific triad.”I use this term to refer to the triple goodness of the flavors of dark roasted coffee or espresso beans, tobacco, and bittersweet chocolate. This is truly a terrific complement of flavors that is common in Padrón maduro cigars.

This stick has aged gracefully. It is burning extremely well, with a thin black burn line and a consistent ash that holds on until I tap off at the 1-inch mark.

With 16 months of aging in my humidors and with 2 years of age prior to release, this cigar shows signs that it will successfully age even longer. The Padrón Series is a fine cigar; one that you can buy by the box and age as long as you want. In my opinion, this cigar will age profitably through the first 5 years. Buy some boxes and lay these down; or smoke them, they will be a great smoke either way.
