Perdomo | Tasting Notes
This beautiful cigar sports a dark and toothy maduro wrapper that is slightly rough and leathery to the touch. Very few veins are seen during the inspection while the leaf still gives off a slight barnyard aroma. After clipping an ample portion of the cap, a easy pre-light draw gave flavors of wood and hay.
With an effortless light using my torch lighter, I settle in to see what 18 additional months of aging has done for this cigar. Lightly spiced woody flavors accompany the smoke with a slightly tangy aftertaste. The cigar then quickly transition to flavors of earth, wood and pepper spice. The cigar flattened-out somewhat after the inch point, but quickly resumed with flavors of earth, wood, and a bittersweet chocolate nuance. Occasionally, a hint of chili pepper spice would surprise my palate while it finishes with medium bodied flavors of wood and coffee. This cigar produced a charcoal colored ash that was cracked and flakey. It held on well past the 1 inch point, and rolled off into a nice pellet when coaxed. A small burn hole near the core was observed at the initial ash removal, and remained to be observed during subsequent ash removals. The burn line even, with no complications experienced. This cigar provided a complex array of flavors that have opened up during the aging process. It provides character and finesse without having to indulge you with sheer power. Aging has shown this cigar to be consistant in the burn and flavor areas within our reviews, and I will continue to have a place in my humidor for this line of cigar. ~Blake Storage Conditions
This is the fourth and final tasting in the Perdomo 1991 ESV edition. These cigars have been stored in my Aristocrat humidor, sans cello, at 68-74°F and 70%RH. The wrapper is a vintage 1991 Nicaraguan Sun-Grown that Nick Sr. purchased for these cigars in 1995. After being rolled, these cigars age for 7 months before being packaged and shipped.
